Last weekend, I hit the trails out at Bankhead National Forest with JP, a buddy of mine at work. Here's some pics!

The trails were great. We didn't see anyone else out the whole time we were out. Unfortunately, we ran low on water, so the last four miles were a drag because we were dehydrated and my legs were cramping really bad.

This hammock was given to me by Del & Jean...friends of ours from the Philippines. My "tarp" is actually garbage bags. I thought that they would work well and pack light, but if it had rained, I would've been soaked. So next time, I think I'm gonna splurge for a legit tarp.

Usually when you do primitive camping, you think things like skunks, coyotes, bears, or spiders are going to keep you awake. For us, the one thing that wouldn't let us sleep were ACORNS! These things were falling like musket balls all around us, and whenever they hit our tarps (err...garbage bags), they would make a loud "POP!" that would scare us senseless and then we'd be awake for the next hour, wondering when the next one was about to hit. Yikes--now I have nightmares about acorns...
