3rd grade field trip!

On this beautiful day in February 3rd grade traveled on a field trip to a local market. In the Philipppines we have modern grocery stores much like the ones in the states, but we also have outdoor markets where you can buy just about anything you could need! (fruits, veggies, and meats probably take up most of the room!)

My kids had many things to look for including finding the biggest fish they could, finding a vendor frying a banana, grating coconut and peeling pineapple.

Also, we had to locate as many parts of the pig tha they were selling in the market. Caleb and Noah were my partners. If you look carefully in the background of this picture, you can see a whole pig being cut up into pieces! It was really interesting to watch. (though, yes, it did smell a little bit!)

After we visited the market we walked through a local Catholic church. Many people walk miles to visit this church at Easter time.

After we visited the church, we ate at McDonalds. The kids did a great job and I had so many wonderful parents that came along with us that the field trip was made very easy!
