Scruffy at Camp!

As we have come home for Pop's funeral and to spend time with family, our precious Scruffy has been at our friends' house. Will was in my class this year, and they are also Auburn fans, so we have many connections. :) It has been really fun as we have recieved updates on how Scruffy is doing. Thought ya'll may enjoy reading a few of the excerpts...

I am having a fun time at camp, but I miss you! WAGs is a great friend and we like to play together. Yesterday I tackled him to the ground and sat on top of him. He liked it! We like to eat and drink out of each other's bowls. So far things are going well. Hope you are doing good!

P.S. Ms Ginger took my picture so you can see how happy I am.

Hi Mom and Dad!
I am learning how to share! WAGs loves my AU Tiger bone. Mrs G. may get him his own from Shopwise.
Love Scruffy!

Hi Mom and Dad!
In case you think I am the only one having to share my toys, I would like to set your mind at ease and tell you WAGs is sharing too. I like his ball and I really like his hot dog. It makes a really great squeaky sound. Mrs Gilmer says I like it even more than WAGs! I'm having fun!
Love you! Scruffy

Hi Mom and Dad!
I hope things are going well for you. I miss you tonight. Today WAGs and I got into trouble. Mrs. G bought WAGs his own AU Tiger soft bone at Shopwise today. We both really like it a lot. For some reason better than all the other toys. You know how it is with new things. We spent the evening stealing it from one another and playing tug-o-war with it. Things finally got a little ugly and we started growling and barking at each other. Dr. G said if we couldn't play nice with the bone it had to be put up. There it sits high on the book shelf just out of reach. WAGs is really big so he tried to get it back for us, but no such luck--he got caught. Attached is a picture of me trying to take the bone from WAGs. Later, we kissed and made up and decided to play with my alligator instead. It was fun chasing it when Mrs G threw it. WAGs and I are really getting to be close friends. We like to wrestle around like the boys in your class. I miss you!
Love Scruffy

Today is the first day of summer vacation! It is nice to have Emily and Will home all day. We have had a fun morning. Will and WAGs dressed up as cowboys--complete with bandanas. They have gone off to save the West. Emily dressed me up in a fairy princess outfit. I looked so cute with the wand and crown. Don't worry dad, I know I'm a boy. My tail about wagged off by backside. Emily loves to dress up her pets. She has dressed up her old cat, her bunny, and now me! WAGs is too big to fit any of her clothes. This outfit belongs to a stuffed cat named Princess.

Joe Brooks: A Mighty Man of Faith

This weekend, we, along with many friends and family, will remember the legacy of my father, Joe Brooks. Dad concluded his long battle with cancer yesterday, and is now enjoying God's awesome glory in heaven.

Dad was a man who was strict in his integrity, abundant in his love, and fiercely loyal to his friends and family. But if we are to zero in on Dad's one ultimate passion, it would have been his desire to see others know Jesus. As a missionary and associate pastor, he spread this news to anyone who was willing to listen.

He preached his final sermon on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006. Although his body was riddled with cancer and weakened by the chemicals of chemotherapy, he sat before the congregation at Beulah Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida and delivered a powerful, 45 minute message.

You are invited to listen to some of these last recorded words of my father. Even though he is no longer here on Earth, his message still applies to all of us.

3A slumber party!

As a class reward and end of the year party, we had a slumber party at one of my student's houses! After swimming for a couple of hours we went back to Will's house and played games, ate pizza and had a blast!

Girl time!

About 3 months ago, we introduced you to some of our good friends here in the Philippines, Alex and Emi and their precious baby Joni! Joni had to be in the hospital for the first 3 weeks of her life, but is now a very healthy, alert, and beautiful 3 month old baby. Yesterday, while school was out because of Philippines Labor Day holiday, they came to visit me! I had so much fun catching up with Emi and Joni.

Scruffy was not excited since we tied him up while they visited! He was just too excited to see Joni!!
