Asian Mobilizers Meeting
I recently got the chance to speak to a group of 40+ people who are working hard to recruit more Asians to do the work of Bible Translation. It was a great group (i.e.: they laughed at all my jokes).

(Um...I'm confused.)

(Just in case you needed help ordering your priorities.)

This week has been international week at Faith Academy! We have been celebrating the fact that there are so many different cultures around the world. In grade 3 we study the continent of Europe. My kids had a terrific time researching a country of their choice and presenting what they discovered to the class. We ended the week with an international parade which was a lot of fun!
We recently mailed out our annual Thanksgiving card/newsletter. In each one, we included as a gift a 5 centavo coin--the only coin currently in circulation in the Philippines to have a hole in the center. We asked everyone to display their coin in a unique way that would remind them of the needs in Bible translation around the World.
Have you thought of a creative way to remember your coin? Let us know!
Oh, and if you just have to know how much your 5 centavos is worth...well...you have to figure that one out on your own. Try to find an online currency coneverter. Just remember that 100 centavos = 1 Peso. Good luck!
A few weeks ago we told you about our wonderful time taking care of our friend's 7 children while they were away in the USA. As a present for watching their kids, they gave us a weekend away at a really nice hotel here in Manila, the Shang-ri-la! We figured we better get away before Baby Brooks arrives, so Friday through today Dan and I enjoyed (and were very spoiled) by staying here! From the huge, amazing breakfast buffet, to taking a bath (rare in the Philippines to have one of these in your bathroom!) to just being able to relax and enjoy spending time together, we had a fantastic time! Here are just a couple of pictures!
Scruffy stayed with a good friend of ours... He just got a haircut a few days ago. Couldn't help but show you our cute puppy!
Listen up, fellow Americans...If anyone tells you that they aren't going to vote next week because "it takes too much time", then you might want to let them know the steps that you have to go through to vote by absentee ballot (at least for Elmore County, Alabama).
1) Go on the internet, find the Absentee Request Form for your county
2) Print Absentee Request Form
3) Fill out Absentee Request Form
4) Mail Absentee Request Form (don't forget international postal rates)
5) Wait for Absentee ballot to arrive by mail
6) Vote
7) seal ballot inside secrecy envelope
8) Fill out and sign absentee voter affidavit
9) Have affidavit signed by two witnesses
10) Seal secrecy envelope inside affidavit envelope
11) Make a copy of valid identification
12) Put affidavit envelope and copy of identification into mailing envelope
13) Seal mailing envelope
14a) (optional) Have envelope delivered to U.S. Embassy for mailing
14b) (optional) Discover that Embassy will only accept ballots from States who pre-pay for the postage (not Alabama, apparently)
15) Take envelope to FedEx, who will mail for free, regardless of pre-paid postage
16) Make sure the ballot arrives before Nov 7
Our votes are going to count. What about yours?
