Looking Forward to Baby #2

On Saturday, my precious sister an Mom had a really special luncheon in honor of Baby #2. What a wonderful time with friends it was as we at lunch (really yummy) visited, and we were spoiled with some awesome gifts that we really appreciate!

All the special ladies (and babies!) at the shower.

I love my sister!! I'm so thankful to live under 2 hours away from her now. :)

Here I am with 2 of my dearest friends, Amy and I have known each other since high school and Joy and I have been friends since college. I felt so honored that they were able to come!

Joy's little boy, Charlie, and Davis had so much fun together. I loved getting to see them play and interact!

Me at 34 weeks!
In other news: Our precious Davis has been staying with Grandma and Gramps since after the shower for Dan and I to have a date weekend! (which was absolutely awesome!! -- nothing like being able to go see a movie and then to dinner while not worrying about nap times or bedtimes!)
I was supposed to pick him up today! Well... after going to the doctor this and finding out I'm about 1 1/2cm dilated... I received orders to be careful what I do especially over the next 2 weeks, my mom and dad have offered to keep Davis for a little while longer. I'm ready to have him back NOW! But, Dan and I realize that we could use a day to regroup and play the "what if" and "what do we need to do" in case our little one decides to make an early appearance. (Davis was born at 37 weeks...) I know a lot of people are dilated for a long time and their babies go full term (any encouraging words from those folks?!!!) Our doctor just wants us to remain on the safe side. :)
Please pray for us as we are away from Davis and for our little one to stay in his nice comfy home for at least 2 more weeks!

Davis and Isa

Davis and I have some new friends that we met at library storytime. Judith and her 20 month old daughter, Isa came over to play yesterday. I love seeing Davis interact and play with other little ones. It reminds me how glad I am that he'll be getting a little brother to play with!
While they were here, we played inside, then got all wet in our little kiddy pool. After that they headed to the sand at the bottom of the slide and became really dirty! Dirt doesn't bother me at all though, and they loved it. We just hosed them off afterwards!!

My sandy little boy. :)

Happy 18 month Birthday, Davis!!

December 24, 2006

June 2008

I've been very nostalgic today, thinking of the many, many milestones that have happened for Davis over the last 18 months. As we've gotten to know each other, it has been so much fun to discover more and more each day about the personality God has given to him!
What a special little boy! We love you very much!
I'm so happy! This has remained a constant through Davis's life! He has such a good attitude that I can often learn from!

Davis and Pup Pup... This has been Davis's favorite stuffed animal since he was born. Pup Pup sleeps with him every night (and comes along on only a few other special occasions-- like when we visit for my doctor check ups for baby #2!)

Davis and Goodnight Moon. One of his very favorite books!

Old MacDonald's Petting Zoo

Fun Brooks Family outing of today was to visit the nearby town of Woodville, AL to visit Old MacDonald's Petting Zoo! I thought I'd just share these pictures!
Daddy and Davis feeding the goat!
Baaaa! Davis was a little bit hesitant with the sheep, but soon warmed up to him!

The favorite animal that Davis fed, were actually the birds. We must have sat there for 15 minutes. :)

In addition to the animals, they had a big shady playground area for kids to play in. Davis loved the slide!

Not the best photo, but I thought I'd show you my pregnant belly as Davis and I walked around! I'm almost 33 weeks now!

We ended the day with some yummy lunch in the picnic area. We highly recommend this place for anyone in the Huntsville area needing a morning or day away with little ones!

HAPPY!

Davis's new favorite word is happy! The other day, before I got him up from his nap the first word I heard on the monitor was hap.... now he has learned to say the whole word, happy! He does it with such enthusiasm and a big smile on his face.
Davis is HAPPY!!!

Happy Belated Father's Day!

For Father's Day we stayed at home and had a few little outings (of Dan's choosing!) For awhile,Dan has been wanting to install seatbelts in the back of his car. For me, I kept insisting that the carseat was not going to fit back there and that until Davis (& #2) are out of carseats they can't ride!! I think the reality for me is that I was just nervous about putting "our baby" to drive around in such a small car!

Well, the "bee" (as Davis calls it) really surprised us with how roomy it is in the back and how well it fits Davis's carseat! (no highways allowed though!!)

Davis LOVED riding in Daddy's car as we went to Lowe's to pick up an American Flag for the front of our house and then to Sonic for some drive in yummyness!

As for Davis, he LOVED his corndog and a few tastes of my orange cream shake!

Riding along! The little carts at Kroger have really taught Davis how to drive and beep the horn! He loves helping Daddy!

All settled in and ready to drive! Davis kept making his sign for "flying" while we were driving. I think because of the windows being down, the noise made him think he was in an airplane. We truly have a world traveler!

Yum! Eating crackers while he waits for his corndog at Sonic!

Concerts by the Gazebo

Dan, Davis and I are really enjoying our new town and took advantage of the summer concert series by the Gazebo in downtown Madison last night. Fun bluegrass music, a wide variety of people attending (of course Davis made new friends!) and a picnic in the grass. We'll definately be making this a regular event!
Notice the new haircut? I took Davis for his first official haircut. He was such a big boy sitting in the chair all by himself! Unfortunately when I went to take a picture, my memory card was not in the camera. Whoops... I was a little sad about that (and the huge hair loss that turned my baby into a toddler!!)

Our Fun Sunday!

We had a great family afternoon today! After Davis awoke from his nap this afternoon lot of fun began....

Dan's volkswagon project of the day was to rotate the tires. Davis was of course very willing to help. He looked oh so cute carrying around the hubcap, but I didn't get a very clear picture. Here he is delivering it to Dan to put it back on!

After helping Dan, Davis and I headed to the backyard, where we played with the hose and also finally scrubbed our slide. Davis was such a great helper to me and I think he got the muddiest he had ever been. He didn't mind it, but prefered for me to keep squirting him with the hose.

One of the new adventures he discovered is that you can climb up the ladders of the playhouse. I've been keeping him from this for so long by not demonstrating it for him, but I've known it is just a matter of time!!! Today, along with cleaning the slide, Dan made sure all the nails weren't sticking out so Davis decided to give climbing a try. I didn't think he'd make it past the first step but (fortunately? unfortunately?) He made it all the way. With large supervision of course!!

Is this scarier for Mom or for Grandma??

Our big boy reaching the top!

Hello world!!! I made it!!!

Dan was our chef tonight on his open fire grill! He has successfully made many things so far (and had a lot of fun in the process!)

Once the hotdogs were done, we had a wonderful family picnic in the backyard!

Like Daddy, Like Son...

After getting cleaned up from being outside in the afternoon, Davis loves to help me cook dinner. In fact, "cook" has become one of his favorite words! (maybe a budding chef?) So, we get out the ingredients and he sits on the counter and helps in lots of ways... mixing, eating, holding spoons, taste testing...
Yesterday we made one of Daddy's favorite foods, mashed potatos!! Not only is it one of Dan's favorites, it is also one of Davis's. Now that I have Davis in the house though, I think Dan is losing his beater licking privledges!
YUM!!!

I wish there was more on here....

Getting every last bite!
