What do we learn from Mommy and Daddy?

Like most people, I think that it is important that kids have both a mother and father who are involved in their lives. This is because kids tend to learn practical stuff from Mommy, and cool stuff from Daddy.

Brotherly Love

Photo shoot of the brothers! We love these boys!! I don't really think they need any captions, but as you can see, they are both feeling pretty good!

This shows that Isaac is able to now be propped up without falling over as Davis runs away from him... this is what usually happens when Davis tries to hold him. He wants to for about 3 seconds and then is off. (then Isaac falls over, or hopefully I'm quick enough to catch him!)

Isaac Update

Well, after our adventure on Sunday, Isaac is almost recovered from his sickness. It ended up after all the final tests came back that he didn't have a UTI like they thought, he just had a viral infection.
Our very content little boy then was very unhappy anytime he was awake or not being held for the past 3 days! (and rightly so as his body has been fighting very hard!) He had a fever the entire time, the highest being 102.4 with tylenol...
Thankfully, this morning he woke up fever free! Yesterday and today have been "sleep off days" as he has been sleeping, thankfully, day and night.

I'm getting better! Oooooh!

I love this sleep... especially when Davis is sleeping also!

Quick glimpse of my beautiful eyes before I close them again!

Isaac is 2 months!

Well, today we had a "not so ideal" day for Isaac's 2 month birthday.

Our day started at 6:30am with Isaac feeling a bit warm to me and being a little more fussy then usual. I took his temperature and he had 100.4 which according to our baby books we are supposed to call the doctor immediately.

After speaking with the doctor, Isaac and I headed to the Pediatric ER. When we arrived, he had a temperature 100.9 and they decided to order a bunch of tests. (not exciting AT ALL) But, I was happy for them to do whatever was necessary to make sure he was alright.

In the ER I learned that babies as young as Isaac are never supposed to have fevers, and if they do have one, even low grade, the doctors play it safe by using a catheter to draw out urine, drawing a bit of blood, doing a spinal tap, (to check for menengitis) and also giving a shot of antibiotics. Ouch. Thankfully, I was able to be in the room for all of the procedures.

All of this was probably a lot scarier for me then it was for Isaac, though his cries showed me he didn't like it too much either!

We are very thankful to the nurses and doctors at Huntsville Pediatric ER for taking such great care of us and letting us know that Isaac only has a urinary track infection. (He'll probably be embarrassed one day that I announced this on our blog...)

We are all tired and I am extremely thankful that Dan was able to be home taking care of Davis during the 6 1/2 hours that we were gone to the hospital!
Happy 2 month birthday to our little? 13lb 11oz buddle of chubby love!

Not So Gross Big Bug

Big Gross Bug actually became cute when we added an adorable toddler who was fascinated by him and a wonderful Daddy who helped him catch him. After they caught the friendly fellow, they played with him, and then let him go (he even crawled on Dan's fingers) By this time, I had decided that I was a wimp. It made for some fun Daddy and Davis time.
My first bug catching!

Davis wasn't so sure at first about the big sound of buzzing that our bug made in the plastic container, but he loved every moment.

Big Gross Bug Part 1

I had every intention of writing about our fabulous Sunday trip to see some family, until now. Big Gross Bug has entered the Brooks household as of last night and I thought I'd tell you about him? her?
After Dan walked Scruffy last night he came in sat down at his computer and I went down to tell him goodnight. AFTER a little hug and a kiss I noticed a GIANT bug on his shoulder and told him he was there. Well, the bug was flung off his shirt (towards me) and flew away. Come to find out, Dan thought I said tarantula on his shoulder so he jumped really high.
I insisted that he find the bug and get rid of it, not really wanting it to join us in our bedroom in the middle of the night. We couldn't find it and I forgot about it till the morning when I heard the blinds shaking. Gross.
SO, I gently have closed the blinds and Big Gross Bug hasn't figured out how to get out into the house yet. Phew.
Dan is going to be the bug guy in the few minutes when he gets home before our neighbors come over for dinner. When I talked to him a few minutes ago he said my job is to poke holes in a plastic jar so that Davis can have the bug.
I don't mind, as long as Davis doesn't figure out how to open the container.

The view of Big Gross Bug (anyone wanna name him?) from outside on our porch.

Here is what is lurking behind my blinds in the dining room...

I must admit, this isn't as Gross of a friend as what my friend Ginny had to deal with a couple of months ago!!

Isaac's first bottle!

In an effort to create a way for Dan and I to be able to get out on a date every once in awhile (and also go to some Auburn football games) we gave Isaac his first bottle of "Mommy's milk" today. Dan gave it to him and he took it like a champ. We are so proud!

I love my Daddy!

Swimming like a champ and meeting Aunt Melody & Uncle Rob

Over Labor Day weekend we took off for my parents house... Davis had been talking about it for the past week and when I put him down for his nap on Friday, he knew that when he woke up we'd be heading for G'ama and G'amps's house! When he awoke, instead of his usual "up" (which is how he requests to get out of bed) I heard G'ama, G'ama.... then a 5 hour trip later, he was able to see her and lots of other family who love him.
Dan went to the Auburn game on Saturday (WAR EAGLE!) with his brothers, so Rob and Melody were able to come up on Sunday and meet their newest nephew. It was so special for Isaac to have some time with them.
As for Davis, he is a swimming champion. We need to be so careful with him around water, and actually, yesterday I learned with anything that he can jump off of! He seems to be fearless and wants to climb and jump off of everything. We are trying to have the rule that you need to be jumping to an adult, but I have a feeling one of these days we'll have a slightly bruised little boy!! Above he has his kickboard that Gramps got for him. My dad learned to swim at summer camp with a kickboard. We can't wait for Davis to be swimming on his own!
Jumping to Mommy. He flies off the dock and would do it all day long if we'd catch him!

Davis at church with Grandma and Gramps... they have a puppet show after the service that he LOVES.

Our awake cutie with his Aunt Annie!

And, in closing for today, I LOVE this picture of Davis... he put together the outfit himself: Thomas the Train pajamas, duck hat and swim floatie. He is the most colorfully dressed kid around!! He also likes to wear swim diapers on his head... I've got to get a picture of that...
