Our little Monkey and Puppy

We enjoyed dressing up today. Davis was a monkey during the day and a tiger at night. Isaac was a little puppy. We participated this evening in Trunk or Treat at our church. Basically, folks line up their cars and the kids can trick or treat from the decorated trunks rather then going door to door. We participated by bringing Dan's Volkswagon to be a trunk. I didn't take hardly any pictures from the evening, but her are a few from earlier!Curious George is Davis's latest favorite book to read, and Davis LOVES to climb, so the monkey outfit I found was very appropriate!

I imagine him saying "Mom, this is so uncomfortable!!"

(one of my only shots from the evening. Isn't he adorable...)

Wanting to Be Like Isaac

Ever since Isaac was born, Davis has wanted to do some of the things Isaac does. Be burped, be carried as much as possible, take a bath in a "tiny" bathtub...

I think he mostly realizes that it is more fun to be a toddler then a baby, but today we had a new "I wanna be like Isaac" discovery that I had to hold back my laughter for.

I was cleaning up the kitchen while Davis enjoyed his sippy cup of milk. As he stood by the door I noticed that by his feet and dribbled down his chin was quite a bit of milk. I thought, whoops, I didn't put the lid on right, but as I walked toward Davis he said "sit up" Translation: "spit up" and then he proceeded to spit more milk onto the floor (Mommy is holding in her laughter again...)

His brother spits up quite a bit (though not as much as Davis did!!) I guess Davis wishes he would spit up too!!

Geocaching!

OK, so we just got our FREE GPS unit in the mail last week, and as I was researching how to use it, I stumbled upon the concept of "geocahing". This is where someone hides a little container somewhere in the world, and then records the coordinates of where it is located online. Then, it is your job to input the coordinates into your GPS unit, find the container, open it, sign your name in the logbook, and maybe swap out some of the trinkets that you might find inside.

For the Brooks family, this obviously meant that we had an ADVENTURE IN THE MAKING!

Our 1st find--located in our favorite park! As Davis would say, the container (which I'm holding) was "tiny". The logbook was actually a small scroll that we had to unroll to sign.

Our 2nd find--Isaac wasn't too interested, but Davis and I found it quickly. A little bigger this time, and there was a calling card left by a penguin inside, which Davis liked.

Our 3rd find...Daddy proves that you CAN get lost while holding onto a GPS. When we pulled into the parking lot, the GPS unit said that we were "2 feet away from destination". After searching a bit, we were actually .1 miles away. Mommy the photographer thought it would be best to take care of her other adventurers while I found this one.

Davis's First Visit to the Dentist

Today was Davis's first time to visit the dentist. For the last week, we have been talking about how he is going to open his mouth and let the dentist "tickle" his teeth. I knew that the dentist would only be checking his teeth out today and not doing a real cleaning until next visit but this really got Davis excited to come to the dentist! When we walked in the door this is what we found:I was easily able to check in and wait while Davis had a blast playing.

When Davis first went back in the office he was allowed to pick out a toy. Here he is with his prize! While I was asked a bunch of questions, one of the dental hygentists was blowing bubbles for the kids to pop and also allowing them to play with several other toys that were in the room where all the cleanings happen! What a fun place!

Davis was a TOTAL superstar when it came time to have his teeth checked out. He laid back in the chair and went "Aaaaah" just like we talked about! I just hope that I can get him to do that for everyday teeth brushing which is a tougher chore!!

Meanwhile, Isaac slept the entire visit to the dentist. When we got home though he was ready to do some kicking on his new toy that I recently found at a kids consignment sale. My little boys are growing up!!!

Ana and Caleb's Visit

We have had such a wonderful week with Ana and Caleb and are incredibly sad to send them home soon... Everyone is tucked in bed right now, but I wanted to show you a few pictures from some of the fun times that we have had. I am not sure if I am going to let them get on the plane, but Caleb has his Daddy and grandparents ready to see him soon!! Davis is especially going to miss his new buddy. Here is a recap of the week!!

Reading in their matching pajamas!
Isaac loved cuddling with Auntie Ana!

We visited my parents for a couple of days and Caleb absolutely loved Molly!

Davis and Molly taking in the beautiful weather on the boat!

Grandma and 2 of her boys!

ADORABLE!!

While Ana was here we had a reunion with several other teachers that also taught in Korea. Davis met another new buddy, whom he absolutely loved. He is 3 years old and really showed Davis how to play together as friends!

The reunion group after lunch! They all spent the night at our house Saturday night, which was absolutely a blast! (and very busy with all 5 of the babies!)

Our friend Robbie, who taught with us in Korea also came to visit. What fun it was to catch up!

Dressing up our boys! Aren't they the cutest! We've come so far since Korea 6 years ago!

These boys are truly going to miss each other. I will not let it be another 4 years until we see each other again! Below you can see a really fun video of some of the fun they had in the bath. Oh so cute!!

Caleb's First Steps!

One of my very best friends came to visit with her adorable son, Caleb. While he has been here he has really taken off with his walking! He'll be one year old next month. I'll be posting many more pictures soon, but wanted to get this up especially for his daddy!! Don't let this fool you though, he actually can walk across the whole room!

Davis Laughing Video hits 50,000 views on YouTube

In case you missed it, when Davis was 5 months old, we posted a video on YouTube of him laughing. It was one of those "glad we had the camera" moments. Over the last year, the video has really gained in popularity, and as of today it has now been viewed over 50,000 times! Since other people seem to like it, we're presenting it once more...hope it makes you smile once again.

My Boys

Good morning from the Brooks Boys!

Morning Hair

While Mommy was cooking breakfast...

Upside Down Isaac...

Funny Davis conversation:

Davis: (Chewing on something)

Mommy: What are you eating, Davis?

Davis: Garbage

Mommy: Open your mouth please...

(after prying his mouth open I was thankful to discover it was only a raw pumpkin seed...) He does love to help with the garbage, so I was glad that it wasn't something really gross!!

Meeting Evan :)

Davis, Isaac and I took a quick trip to Chattanooga today to meet one of my best friends, Ginny for a couple of hours. She was in town from Charlotte and was visiting with a good friend, Nicole. We were able to meet Ginny's precious little boy Evan for the first time and also Nicole's adorable twins! We took all the kids to the park and just had a wonderful time together! It was strange to have the "big kid" in the group with Davis being the oldest at 21 months!!

Tate Farms Pumpkin Patch

Instead of a sandbox the kids were able to play in a "corn crib" SO much fun!

This is where Isaac spent most of his day.... :) Next year he can pick a pumpkin too!

My favorite picture of our little adventurer. He picked out his own "tiny" pumpkin right off the vine!

With Defeat Comes Joy

Some may call me a traitor, but I promise I'm not. My only football team is Auburn, but I was happy for Vanderbilt this past weekend.
Dan and I had such an awesome date to the Vanderbilt vs. Auburn game this past weekend. Grandma and Gramps were so kind to come up and watch Davis and Isaac all day on Saturday so that we could take off for Nashville. Thank you! Thank you! It was so refreshing just to have some time for Dan and I without munchkins!!
My experience: Minus one obnoxious Vanderbilt fan, everyone was so nice! I believe some of the nicest fans you could ever meet. Dan and I sat in a sea of Vanderbilt fans with a few Auburn fans mixed in and really enjoyed chatting with the folks from Vanderbilt. The energy was huge as they played well and ultimately defeated our wonderful Tigers... so why was I happy for them? They deserved to win in my opinion. They haven't beaten us since 1955 and all of the talk was the excitement of the possibility of going to a bowl game. Auburn is used to winning. We hardly ever haven't gotten to go to a bowl game.
Vanderbilt appreciates winning a whole lot more then we do and it was a ton of fun to feel the energy from the crowd and then to see all the happiness from the fans and football players after the game was over. Did anyone make any bad comments to us after the game? NO WAY! We had people saying "good game" to us and just being so nice and polite. I hope our Auburn fans will always treat the away team fans with this same respect.
WAR EAGLE!!
The sea of orange! Auburn had a great turn out for this exciting game.

Uncle David and Aunt Laura came through on Sunday to say hello on their way back from Nashville after Laura ran in the half marathon there. (congratulations!) Davis and Isaac loved the visit!

Socks. These are going to be getting smelly, in fact I'm about to wash them while Davis is napping. He has insisted on wearing his orange and blue socks since Saturday. I'm just not a mommy who cares if they match his outfit, so these are what he wore to church, and now today to the Pumpkin Patch. (cute pictures coming tomorrow from our outing!)

Scruffy's New Friend

Meet Hudson, a gentle Golden Retriever that we have had the pleasure of watching for a few days. Pam, Hudson's Mom has unfortunately been in the hospital so Hudson has been in need of doggie day care. He is dropped off early in the morning and then picked up in the evening! Pam used to be our neighbor until her and her family moved away. Thankfully she is still pretty close by so we can keep in touch! We all love Hudson, so it has been a lot of fun to have him around. Scruffy is especially glad to have his big buddy to play with. They are both worn out by the end of the day which is helpful to all of us!
