Isaac's Fun

Just had to share these pics of Isaac enjoying his time at Grandma and Gramps's house!
He absolutely loves dogs, especially Molly. She was really patient with his "petting," which in reality can be a little rough. "Gentle, gentle" are words you'll hear often around here when it comes to Isaac and doggies... but he just gets so excited!!

Isaac is trying to show you his brand new tooth! He began cutting it a couple weeks ago... hopefully I'll be able to get a picture soon of him with his no longer toothless grin!

Hangin' in the driveway with big brother and Grandma. He is the happiest baby around. We love him so much!

Happy Birthday Cory!

Dan and I enjoyed a wonderful date night trip on Saturday for a surprise 30th party for my brother in law Cory! Anne has been planning this special fiesta for months and Cory was truly surprised! He thought he was bringing the guest of honor to his surprise party so it was a shock when he found out the party was actually for him!! We left the boys at home and thoroughly enjoyed our time visiting with family and friends.

The eight of us! With David and Laura getting married in July, our family is now complete! (well, minus future cousins that will someday arrive!)

Fun with Friends

Yesterday, we spent the morning till naptime with our friends that we have missed so much since moving away from Mom and Dad's house. Davis and Currin are 8 months apart in age. It used to seem like such a large age gap, but they are now such wonderful playmates at 19 and 27 months!

Here are the wonderful friends with a dog from the neighborhood. They loved marching and holding hands. SO precious.

Here they are eating their lunch at the perfect size table for them. They worked up an appetite and it showed with them both eating whole grilled cheese sandwiches and a bunch of fruit and pretzels. Lots of playing = Lots of hunger
Meg and I watched from afar with Isaac as the boys played in the woods and climbed on the playset by themselves. They did a wonderful job interacting and just being boys! What fun ages!

Isaac enjoyed his time also... here he is with Aunt Meg.
Isaac can't wait to be able to climb and explore with the big boys! But for now he is happy on this blanket with Mommy and Aunt Meg.

Spring Break at Camp Grinnell

It had been way too long since I had brought the boys to visit Grandma, Gramps and Molly at their house, so we decided to come down for a few days of Spring Break! We arrived yesterday and have been having a fantastic time. Grandma and Isaac had lots of snuggles on the dock while we watched Davis and Gramps do a little boating and fishing. We are loving the weather and all of our time here!
Gramps has been getting ready to teach Davis how to fish for awhile. My sweet Daddy recently went at got his fishing license, and has been reading up on how to catch fish. (I don't think he wanted Davis to be disappointed, but Davis never would be, all that matters is that time that Gramps is spending with him!)
The fish weren't biting so Gramps and Davis headed out on a little cruise on the lake. While they were gone some fish decided to swim by, so when the returned and were trying to fish they were able to get 2 catfish! Davis was definately in shock (and Gramps too) ... we aren't sure that Davis actually realized what a real fish looked like. They aren't quite as tiny as the goldfish you see in a fish tank or pictures in a book!

Davis was very much "stand offish" with the fish. He did not want to touch them and was very happy for them to be put back in the water.

Though Davis wasn't ready to play with his fish, he has been very proud of his accomplishment and has been talking about it a lot.
Davis named his fish "Mr. Fish" Isn't he cute! :)

Isaac is 8 months old!

As of Saturday Isaac is 8 months old! In the last month he has begun to sit up like a pro, try to put absolutely everything he can grab into his mouth, and also is cutting his first tooth!!

With new teeth coming in, he desires to be carried by Mommy a lot. (at least that is the reason I am telling myself!!)

We took the boys to the Space and Rocket Center on Saturday. It was a great time, especially watching Davis be interested in many of the displays. Dan tried to get a picture of Davis and the little astronaut man (look closely between the boys) looking eye to eye, but lately Davis has started to run away when we want to take a picture. Thankfully, he posed for this one with Isaac.

The First Night

Well, I didn't sleep well, but Davis sure did! (yippee!) I did go to him one time because he had lost Pup Pup, but that took less then 5 minutes! In the morning we had cause for celebration!Dan and I waited not so patiently by the monitor for Davis to let us know he was ready to get up. No other morning would we wish for our children to be up early! Finally, since we knew he was awake, we went to congratulate him before Dan left for work, and he announced with a big smile, "I'm done sleeping! Get up, please!" What an obedient little boy.

In celebration, we had one of Davis's favorite fruits and ate orange (colored, not flavored) pancakes. Davis's favorite color is orange and he loves pancakes, so this has become a family favorite.

Even Isaac tried pancakes for the first time. Yum!
.
As for the rest of today, we took down his crib and rearranged his room. No going back now!

Big Boy Bed

I just put my baby in a "big boy bed" tonight. I really have to admit that I just about wanted to cry as I left the room and began to listen and watch him on our monitor. He is over 2 years old and was very excited to sleep in it tonight, so I guess this is just one of the momentous occasions of growing up that I should celebrate and not mourn!!
.
He actually has had a twin size bed in his room for a few weeks, which we had planned to move him into, but he really hadn't had any interest in leaving his crib, until we made this purchase today at the local kids consignment sale. (love bargains!) It is more his size, fits his "rocket" sheets (which he loves) and just seems to be the right transition bed for a little toddler.
.
I told Davis that part of moving into a toddler bed was giving his "turtle" (musical little toy that attaches to the crib) to Isaac for his crib. He did and and he even showed Isaac how to play with it. Adorable. Great big brother. As I put Davis to bed, I caved and said, "if you want turtle for another night I'll put him on for you." to which he replied. "I gave to Isaac. Isaac borrow now." He didn't even need it. Then I left him in his silent room... what a big, precious little boy.
.
He is so proud, and we are so proud too!
Davis and Pup Pup ready for their first night out of the crib.

This is what we hope won't happen in the middle of the night!! He has been instructed to say "get up please" in the morning when it is light outside. We'll see. :)

Snowstorm 2009

I'm originally from Rochester, NY so when I hear that snow is headed our way I get really excited! I know that it won't be the amount of snow that I remember as a kid, but I still know that there will be some time for fun if it will actually stick! Yesterday, we awoke to a little bit of snow on the ground, so we decided to go out and play before heading to church. It was Davis's first snow to play in because last year he was sick the one time that it snowed, so he wasn't able to take advantage of the fun!
How could we play in the snow without making a snowman? Dan was the winner in the snowman contest. Davis kept wanting to break the parts of the snowman I was making. :) We assured him that next year he'd probably be more into making the snowman, but it will be Isaac's turn to want to break the different parts. :) :)

Our snowman masterpiece. I think it took most of the snow in our front yard to creat Mr. Snowman.

Little Birdy footprints in the snow. We had these in several places around our yard. Apparently, the birds were also out playing in the snow!

As you can see on our gate, total snow accumulation of under an inch. By the time we were home from church, Mr. Snowman was tipped over and all of the snow in our yard was gone. We put Mr. Snowman back up and he continued to thrive for a few more hours!
As for Isaac, he was busy taking a nap while we played outside. :)
